TIME TO APPLY ADVANCED ACCESS TECHNOLOGY TO

FOOD PROCESSING SAFETY

Crucially for food processors,

the system also enables

reporting on functions and

tasks completed –– such as

sanitation procedures or

testing for salmonella.

egress, equipment operation or com-

puter and systems access.

Enables Access Tracking, Reporting

On Tasks Performed

Crucially for food processors, the system

also enables reporting on functions and

tasks completed –– such as sanitation

procedures or testing for salmonella. For

example, a customized task list could be

created that would require a card swipe

to record that the task has actually been

performed / completed, and by whom.

Like a punch card, the swipe records

that the employee went to the post, but

not necessarily that he performed the

function. A second step, addition of a

reporting requirement, adds another

level of safety: To fill out a required

report, the employee “opens” and “clos-

es” the document with the key or card.

It would then be encrypted and saved.

Area access within secured rooms or

floors is another level of security

enabled: If an employee wanders into

an unauthorized area, the badge turns

itself “off,” reverting to dark or opaque

configuration with a hologram glare vis-

ible (see photos).

In terms of its ability to turn itself “on”

and “off,” the credit-card sized badge is

unique, Minushkin notes.

Another unique feature is that access

authorization can be timed –– the

ClearedBadge® turns itself “off” and goes

dark when a user’s time on site / in a spec-

ified area is up. This feature enables access

control not only for regular employees, but

for visitors. The ClearedBadge® system

allows access only to locked doors, secure

areas or equipment that an individual is

authorized to access.

In conjunction with the Department of

Defense, Priva has also designed a

next-generation secure microchip to

protect data in portable devices such as

cell phones and laptop computers.

Priva technology utilizes the only com-

mercially available, biometrically

enabled microchip with the govern-

ment’s FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification,

one of the highest security ratings the

federal government awards.
